At the age of 19, I moved from my hometown of Adelaide to London where I would live for 12 great years. I assisted some of the greatest photographers in the world namely Mario Testing and Mert & Marcus. What an incredible and fortunate exposure to the top of of the fashion industry this proved to be.
Returning to Australia I have worked in the Australian fashion retail scene with brands such as Just Jeans, Dotti, Cotton On and Jeff Banks to name a few. A book cover for Barry Hall (AFL Footballer) and covers for MCV magazine have provided me the variety I enjoy. In 2006, I was awarded the AGDA Photograph of the Year.
All along I have known that I want to make a difference in people’s lives through photography. I love the eclectic; the beautifully different, the avant garde. The beauty of texture, colour and detail in small and obscure objects fascinates me.
I began searching antique shops and markets for pre-loved and pre-used items with beauty the belied their size. As I shot, re-formatted and reflected on their scale, I was just so inspired by the transformation into art.
Then it hit me, what if I shot small keepsakes, heirlooms, collectables that people loved so as to turn them into large scale art which people could enjoy everyday?
Would connecting people to the things they love through photography make a difference in their lives?
I love what I do but most of all I love what it does for my clients.
Enjoy x
